Magnifying Business Chances

Unlike magnifyin,g lens, search engine optimization does not only make a business company appear "virtually" bigger. Rather, it makes the business company "actually" bigger by using the information superhighway or what we commonly refer to as the World Wide Web.
The world today is mostly influenced by the World Wide Web, and we know that for a fact. Almost all trades and industries make use of it in order to heighten their status. All that consumers should do is to simply key in their queries using certain keywords in search engines like Google and Yahoo!. However, recently, there are not only thousands but millions of corporate names in the internet. With this colossal count of names in the online market, chances are slim for most companies to get to the top chart and get seen by potential clients and costumer. Thus, this is where search engine optimization comes in, but how?
Well, here is the simple rationale behind this optimization process. Considering the aforementioned claims, search engine optimization develops websites of businesses in a way that it gets seen by people easily on the internet. It makes use of various ways and means in order to do so. And ranging from small-scale businesses to medium sized ones and up to the leading business names in the globe, this kind of optimization tool proves to be a really expedient means of increasing business market and eventually, sales.
On that note, search engine optimization also has other advantages aside from merely magnifying the existence of business companies in the World Wide Web. This trend also spares a company from the hassles of marketing the business using other ways and means. With this optimization process, business market broadens to the optimum level without undergoing so many hassles. Also, this process of marketing a business helps in saving company funds. As compared to using other media of marketing, doing it online is definitely less costly.
Further still, search engine optimization allows not only potential clients and customers to reach the company but also other companies. With the company optimized, it would be easy for other corporate bodies to access and deal with the said company and conduct possible business to business transactions and relationships which would pave a way for a business expansion and which is certainly good and advantageous for the company.
Finally, borrowing a line from raffle draw events, "the more entries you have, the more chances of winning too!" But well, in this case, it should rather go this way, "the more optimized a business gets, the more chances it gets at snagging clients and profit too!"

Get traffic from the search engines

To get traffic from the search engines you need links to your website, lots of links. This is because the search engines give better rank to pages with inbound links than to pages with little or no links.

Here's an easy way to get links from blog comments. Just type the following search query into Google:

wordpress comments "your keywords"

Where you replace "your keywords" with the specific keywords your are targeting with your website.

When you search like that you will find wordpress blogs related to your niche where you can post relevant comments and include a link back to your site.

Make sure to use different variations of your keywords when you link back!

A good strategy when commenting on blogs is to write something that ads value to the discussion. That way some people reading your comment will become interested in what you do and click through to your website to check you out.
Links from blogs in the same niche as your website is a lot more valuable for SEO than links from random unrelated blogs. The search engines considers the theme of the link when deciding how to rank your site.

What are Meta Tags?

Titles & Meta Tags are special HTML Tags that are inserted into your Web page and are often not directly visible to your visitors.Title & Meta Tags help search engines understand, catalog and categorize your Web page so those looking for your products or services can find you. There are many different types of Meta Tags that can be used for many different purposes.

Why do I Need Titles & Meta Tags?
Every Web page should have a Title and a Meta Description Tag. Your Web page Title is similar to the Title of a book and the Meta Description is similar to the preface or back cover of a book and is used to describe what the Web page is about. Since search engines display this in their search results, it is very important that your Title and Meta Tags be search engine friendly.
Other important search engine Meta Tags would include the Meta Charset and Meta Language Tags. These help search engines read and understand your Web pages better no matter what language is used.
When Titles and Meta Tags are not properly optimized, search engines will have to decide what to use and that won't increase your search engine traffic.
When Titles and Meta Tags are properly optimized, you can have much more control over what is displayed in search results and can influence how people can find you in search engines.
Fact: All major search engines including Google, Yahoo!, Bing and others utilize Meta Tags!
If you're visiting search engine optimization sites that claim Meta Tags including the Meta Description are not used by the major search engines, then that search engine optimization site should be avoided. Visit Google™ or Yahoo!® and see what they have to say about Meta Tag optimization.

How Do I Use Titles & Meta Tags?
Some search engines will only display a maximum of 60 characters of text for the Title in their search results. Keeping your Title Tag under 60 characters helps insure your Title makes sense in the search results. Be smart and make sure your Title is not chopped off!
This how to install them on your Web page. In short, Meta Tags MUST be placed between your opening <head> and closing </head> Tags. In addition, all Web pages MUST contain both the opening <html> and closing </html> Tags to be considered robot friendly HTML documents. Below is a sample of Meta Tag usage and the use of the Title Tag.

Title and Meta Tags Example:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<title>Your Web Page Title</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en">
<meta name="description" content="Your description">
<meta name="keywords" content="keyword1 keyword2">
</head>
<body>
The viewable content of your Web page.
</body>
</html>

Meta Charset Tag:
Browsers and many search engines use the Meta Charset to determine how to translate the bytes in the document into characters on the screen. Basically this helps search engines and browsers understand how to present the HTML code and text found in the Web page. If you would like to learn more about the Meta Charset visit http://www.w3.org/International/O-charset.en.php.
Which Charset to use? If you are not sure which Meta Charset to use there is a couple of options available to you:
   1. You could try one of free Meta Tag Analyzer services that available on the internet and see if it can detect or guess the Charset currently being used on your Web page (recommended).
   2. Select one that matches the language your Web page is written in.
Hint: The majority of English spoken Web pages created with Windows would select English - windows-1252, but virtually any English will usually work just fine.

Meta Language Tag:
Providing this Meta Tag can help search engine better target visitors to your Web page.

Meta Description Tag:
Enter a description for your Web page. A maximum of 150 characters is suggested for this Tag. You get one chance to capture the attention of those viewing your description. Pages with powerful Titles and a short description can pull in a lot of traffic from search engines if constructed properly.
Tip: The 150 character limit for the Meta Description Tag is because some search engines will only display a maximum of 150 characters of text for the description in their search results. Keeping your Meta Description Tag under 150  characters helps insure your description makes sense in the search results. Be smart and make sure your Meta Description is not chopped off!

Meta Keywords Tag:
Most search engines these days ignore the Meta Keywords. However, if you provide words in the Meta Keywords Tag that also appear in the viewable part of your Web page, the Meta Keywords Tag may help your rankings with some search engines.
A maximum of 874 characters is allowed for this Tag, but we wouldn't recommend you use that many or you can suffer from keyword saturation, or even be labeled as a keyword spammer. Just a few highly targeted keyword phrases will usually do the trick. It is also recommended you only include words here that can also be found in the viewable part of the Web page.

How Do You Get Top Rankings?

It takes specialized SEO tools and an understanding of how search engines work to get top rankings for your Websites.
There are a number of programs that will monitor your position on search engines, but seeing your competition on top doesn't answer the question "why". And once you know why you won't have to see your competition on top again because you'll be there instead.
  • How come my competition is on top?
  • Once I'm on top, how do I stay on top?
  • How do I get people to click on my listing instead of my competition's?
  • How do I optimize my HTML to be "search engine optimized"?
  • How do I create and submit a search engine friendly Sitemap file?
  • How do I choose the right keywords?
  • Where are my customers going when online?
  • What are my customers doing online?
  • What are my customers searching for?
Dofollow links to your website is the most important factor when Google and the other search engines decides what position to give your website in the search engine results.
That's why you shouldn't miss any opportunity to get fresh dofollow links with keyword rich anchor text or high pagerank pointing to your site.

Google launched a program to provide free web hosting

Google Inc. reported that 1,500 new websites were created by Canadian businesses during the first week of the web giant’s free website program.

On March 29, Google launched a program to provide free web hosting, domain name registration and advice for Canadian business owners. Google partnered with Rogers Communications Inc., Royal Bank of Canada, free website builder tool Yola Inc., which is based in San Francisco, and the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) in the initiative called Get Your Business Online (gybo.ca or ecsel. ca in French). The program also includes a credit to use Google’s AdWords, the company’s online advertising product. Google Canada spokesperson Andrew Swartz said there are still about 1 million small businesses that don’t have websites, and this program aims to change that by providing both financial and technical assistance.
